Half Moon Bay, California — Seven people were killed and one seriously injured. Mass shootings at two farms in Northern California A source was confirmed to sister station ChiPopular News this afternoon.
The shooting was reported at the Mountain Mushroom Farm on San Mateo Road in Half Moon Bay.First responders received a call about an active shooter at approximately 2:20 p.m.

Authorities responded to the Mountain Mushroom Farm and found four victims dead from gunshot wounds. His fifth victim, also suffering from a gunshot wound, was taken to Stanford Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Shortly thereafter, three more victims were found at Concord Farm, less than three miles from the Mountain Mushroom Farm, also dead from gunshot wounds.

The suspect has been taken into custody, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Chunli Zhao, 67, of Half Moon Bay, was arrested in connection with the incident.

The sheriff’s office says the weapon was in Zhao’s car. He is believed to have acted alone and poses no further threat to the community, they added.
San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus said: “This is a devastating tragedy for our community and the many families affected by this unspeakable act of violence.
Sources told ChiPopular News that the suspect worked at one of the mushroom farms and all the victims were co-workers.

Locals told ChiPopular News that Mountain Mushroom Farm is known for growing marijuana.
The San Francisco FBI assists the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office by providing investigative and forensic resources. They say the sheriff’s office is the primary investigative agency at this time.
ChiPopular was told that the Holy Family Children’s Center was put under lockdown around 3:20pm.
A Family Reunification Center has been set up in the IDES Hall.
Congressman Anna Eshu issued the following statement following the shooting incident in the Half Moon Bay congressional district.
“I continue to monitor the unfolding of the tragedy that occurred at Half Moon Bay. I would like to thank the San Mateo Sheriff’s Department for detaining the suspect and handling the two scenes of the murder. Half Moon Bay is a love affair.” It is tight, it binds the community together and we all stand by them and the families of the victims in these dark times.”
White House Press Secretary Carine Jean-Pierre tweeted that President Biden had been briefed on the shooting and had asked federal law enforcement to provide local authorities with the necessary assistance. The president will be updated as more details become available, Jean-Pierre added.
Governor Gavin Newsom also responded to the incident just one day after the deadly shooting in Southern California’s Monterey Park. He tweeted, “When I met a shooting victim at a hospital, I was pulled away to be briefed on another shooting. This time at Half Moon Bay. Tragedy after tragedy,” he tweeted.
