21-year-old Polish businessman missing after Chicago holiday party

Friends of Krzysztof Zubert prepared flyers looking for him on Tuesday night, days after he disappeared following a holiday party in downtown Chicago.

Szubert, 21, who lives in Tychy, Poland and works in the IT field, has been working in Chicago since November, according to friends.

“We are scared of him,” said Michal Wojacinski. “His family is scared of him.”

Zubert was staying at a hotel in Joliet, according to friends, but was out attending a party in the first block of West Hubbard on Saturday night.

He was last seen leaving a party around 9:45pm, but left abruptly.

“I saw him standing there and the next minute he wasn’t there,” Wojacinski said. “No one saw him leave. The next day, Sunday, I went to his room and knocked on the door, but it was empty and he wasn’t there.”

NBC 5 spoke with Szubert’s sister in Poland.

“He calls mom and dad all the time, every day,” said Anna Zubert. “We tried calling his phone and both of his phones were completely off…he is very smart and generous. I just want to.”

Chicago police say Szubert was last seen wearing a dark jacket and blue collared shirt as he left a party at Howl at the Moon at 26 West Hubbard.

If anyone has information regarding his whereabouts, we recommend contacting the Chicago Police Department Detective at 312-744-8266.
