Hello, in this article, I aim to present you current developments and breaking news about The Honduran cardinal regrets the violence in his country and refuses to decriminalize abortion – Chi News

Tegucigalpa, March 13 (EFE) .- Honduran Cardinal Óscar Andrés Rodríguez lamented this Sunday the wave of violence that has intensified in recent weeks in Honduras and expressed his rejection of the decriminalization of abortion in the country.
“Life begins in the womb and there are constantly people and groups that are against life,” Rodríguez said in a homily held at the Suyapa Minor Basilica, in the far east of Tegucigalpa, the country’s capital.
He said that it is “sad that we have not been able to make Honduras respect life, that there are no deaths, no one has the right to take anyone’s life, much less life that has not been born.”
“Everyone who is at this moment wielding weapons, destroying and killing, is killing the beloved and chosen children, no one can take his life, much less with those weapons of destruction, we cannot continue as inert spectators watching how which is a film and the suffering of so many people,” Rodríguez emphasized.
On March 4, the Episcopal Conference of Honduras stated in a statement that in recent weeks “this wave of violence has intensified” in Honduras, where “a certain lack of decisive action against crime, the enemies of peace they take advantage of and feel at ease”.
The religious affirmed that abortion is the “worst of injustices” and questioned that there are “societies that tear their clothes because they are against the death penalty, (but) they want to sentence those who have not been born to death, that is why it is important that we reflect on this journey of Lent”.
DEPUTIES SHOULD NOT FALL INTO A TRAP
The cardinal said that he hopes that the Honduran deputies “who truly want something better for our Honduras, do not fall into the trap of the tyranny of some minorities, all humanity is called to transfiguration.”
“No to any attempt against life, nor to all means or medications that are abortive, that is not progress, it is walking backwards,” Rodríguez stressed.
Within the framework of International Women’s Day, feminist organizations demanded in Honduras the end of the criminalization of abortion in the country, while the Catholic Church and representatives of right-wing parties have expressed their opposition.
The interruption of pregnancy has been criminalized in Honduras in all its forms since 1997, which has generated persecution of women suspected of having had one, for which they could serve up to 10 years in prison.
The religious said that it is necessary to “become aware that humanity cannot continue walking without God, we need to make true life transparent, we cannot take refuge in the mountain of individualism, we need to assume reality.”
“Today there is an ideology in highly developed societies that speak of the welfare society and see the world only in the light of progress, development, economic growth, subjecting all reality to reason, but history has shown that this was not the solution,” said the Honduran cardinal.
